Dr. Joshua Fein is a D.C. area native and a graduate of the nationally acclaimed International Baccalaureate Program at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland. At Duke University on a music scholarship, he pursued his twin passions – – science and jazz.  Following graduation, he volunteered two years to teach special needs children in impoverished areas of the New York City and Durham, North Carolina public school systems.

Dr. Fein studied dentistry at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, graduating with highest distinction.  He elected to combine his studies with extensive research on infant oral health care, winning the Turner Award as the Dental School’s top student researcher.  His research findings were selected for publication in the Journal of Dental Education and presented at the Pediatric Dentistry meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii.  Also, while at UNC, he continued his volunteer work by directing a free dental clinic that provided emergency treatment to thousands of indigent patients in the community.

In pursuing his longstanding goal to help patients and relieve pain, he entered the Endodontics Residency Program at the University Maryland, where he received both a Certificate in Endodontics and a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences.  His interest in expanding dental knowledge led to his research project on diabetes and endodontic infection and a major national award at the 2012 American Association of Endodontists’ Annual Session.  His research also allowed him to obtain extensive knowledge of the latest cutting edge technology, including innovative uses of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Dr. Fein has had specialized training in both pediatric and geriatric dentistry, and is comfortable treating patients of any age. He has extensive knowledge of trauma and its proper treatment, as well as various childhood oral health conditions.  He also underwent specialized training in geriatric dental care and understands the limitations and special needs that some older patients may have.  Dr. Fein works closely with a number of local groups to provide therapy to senior citizens in need of endodontic treatment.  He is dedicated to providing care to all those in need, regardless of age or medical condition.

Dr. Fein is the co-founder of the Northern Virginia Dinner and Dentistry Club, a group of the area’s best dentists dedicated to lifelong learning.  He participates with several other study clubs as a speaker and endodontic expert.  Dr. Fein is listed as a top dentist in numerous local, regional, and national publications.  He is frequently called upon as an expert witness for endodontic and dental court cases and is an editorial reviewer for the nationally renowned Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA).

When not helping patients, Dr. Fein sings, plays the piano, saxophone, guitar, and bass.  He is an avid CrossFitter, runner and SoulCycle enthusiast, and enjoys travel and spending time with family and friends.  He and his wife have two children. They live locally in Northern Virginia and are active in local dental and volunteer causes.
